# Technical documentation

Context4's public surface consists of the HTTP API `/v1`, remote `/mcp`, OAuth for MCP and the Composio adapter at `/compat/context4/v1`. These are different ways to access shared connections and execution, subject to permissions, policies and quotas.

## HTTP API

[General rules and authorization](https://ctx4.me/docs/api.md) explains keys, errors, pagination and retries. The [full OpenAPI JSON](https://ctx4.me/docs/openapi.json) contains 66 operations on 45 paths and 61 named schemas; the reference below is generated from that same public contract.

| Chapter | Contents |
| --- | --- |
| [Tools and identity](https://ctx4.me/docs/api-tools.md) | Catalog, tool schema, current access scope |
| [Executions](https://ctx4.me/docs/api-executions.md) | Creation, list, state, attempts and cancellation |
| [Connections](https://ctx4.me/docs/api-connections.md) | Accounts, auth configs, stored provider schemas |
| [Sources and networks](https://ctx4.me/docs/api-sources.md) | Databases, credentials, discovery, network and schemas |
| [Sessions](https://ctx4.me/docs/api-sessions.md) | Creation, reading, updates and tool list |
| [Syncs](https://ctx4.me/docs/api-syncs.md) | Settings, runs, records, replay and exports |
| [Events](https://ctx4.me/docs/api-events.md) | Provider event catalog and subscriptions |
| [Provider HTTP](https://ctx4.me/docs/api-endpoints.md) | Discovery and mirror calls |
| [JSON Schema](https://ctx4.me/docs/api-schemas-1.md) | Complete request and response structures in four parts |

## AI and MCP

[Connection and protocol](https://ctx4.me/docs/ai-mcp.md), [five meta-tools with exact schemas](https://ctx4.me/docs/mcp-tools.md), [OAuth](https://ctx4.me/docs/mcp-oauth.md). Service tools load from the live catalog; there is no complete universal action list for every account.

## Direct HTTP and SDK

[Proxy requests](https://ctx4.me/docs/proxy-requests.md) explains paths, query parameters, bodies, authorization and restrictions. [Composio SDK](https://ctx4.me/docs/composio-sdk.md) describes compatible versions and differences from native contracts.

Public documentation describes client interfaces. Internal ingress, service-to-service controllers, service checks and operator settings are not client APIs.

## Machine-readable reference

[OpenAPI JSON](https://ctx4.me/docs/openapi.json), [HTTP and MCP index with schemas](https://ctx4.me/docs/api-index.json), [compat route inventory](https://ctx4.me/docs/compat-routes.json), [AI instructions](https://ctx4.me/llms.txt), [full documentation as one text](https://ctx4.me/llms-full.txt). Retrieve any chapter as Markdown by appending `.md` to its address.

The [public connector and action catalog in JSON](https://ctx4.me/docs/connectors.json) contains versions, authorization methods and action keys. It is a catalog snapshot, not confirmation of access in the current account: check schemas and availability through discovery.
