**Direct MCP is sufficient. A plugin is optional.** Use the application's MCP settings. If a terminal and Codex CLI are available:

```sh
codex mcp get context4
codex mcp add context4 --url 'https://ctx4.me/mcp'
codex mcp login context4
codex mcp get context4
```

If an entry already exists with the correct address, skip adding it. A missing entry on the first `get` means the server has not been configured yet. Ask about the user's intent if the address differs. Sign in using the client's link. If tools do not appear, refresh the session or open a new chat.

A plugin may become an additional installation method after publication; direct MCP remains available. [Official Codex MCP documentation](https://developers.openai.com/codex/mcp).

## Install Context4 skills

For normal setup, install `context4` and `context4-setup`. Add `context4-workflows` for tasks across systems. [Codex installation](https://ctx4.me/docs/skills-codex.md). Skills do not replace MCP or authorization.
