# What is Context4

Context4 is a service that connects CRMs and other work apps to AI through MCP (Model Context Protocol). It helps teams and developers find work data and perform available actions from an AI client or their own application.

Context4 connects AI and applications to external services through managed connections. Account authorization is stored by the platform; an agent receives available actions and their schemas, selects an account and completes the task within your permissions.

## Three ways to work

| Task | Interface | Start here |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Give AI tasks | Remote MCP with browser sign-in | [Quickstart](https://ctx4.me/docs/quickstart.md) |
| Embed actions in an application | Public HTTP API and compatible Composio SDK | [Technical documentation](https://ctx4.me/docs/api-reference.md) |
| Receive object changes and exports | Source syncs | [Data and sync](https://ctx4.me/docs/syncs.md) |

## What the platform provides

- Account connections, multiple accounts for one service and managed sharing.
- Tool search, input and output schemas, and execution subject to policies and quotas.
- Execution records, states and attempts for checking results.
- A catalog of provider HTTP methods and calls through a connected account.
- Syncs, entity schemas and historical exports available for each source.

Availability is determined by the live catalog, connection state and permissions. A service page in the [catalog](https://ctx4.me/apps) helps you choose an integration; executable tools are discovered after connection. Context4 does not promise every service's entire API, identical schemas or identical sync modes.

## From task to result

Describe the desired result and account. The agent finds a suitable action, retrieves its schema, checks the connection and sends arguments. After execution, it checks the state and actual data. Explicitly authorize changes, deletions and sending messages: tool access by itself does not authorize arbitrary actions.

## Why AI needs your work context

Without access to work data, AI can explain how to manage sales, but it does not know which deals you have open. Context means data from selected accounts: customers, tasks and other available records. Tools let AI move from discussion to an action in a service when the connection has the required permissions.

For example, the [amoCRM MCP connector](https://ctx4.me/apps/amocrm) supports examining available deals and contacts, while the [Bitrix24 connector](https://ctx4.me/apps/bitrix24) supports working with its CRM and tasks. Each service page describes support for individual actions; final availability is checked in your account.

## Start without building an integration

Choose [ChatGPT](https://ctx4.me/connect/chatgpt) or [Claude Code](https://ctx4.me/connect/claude) in the connection guides. Copy the prompt, set up the client and personally approve access to your work service. Start by reading data, then authorize changes you are ready to verify.

MCP is the protocol through which an AI client calls external tools. Context4 provides that access to work services; it does not replace your AI or CRM. [How MCP and tools work](https://ctx4.me/docs/ai-mcp.md).

## How to connect a CRM to ChatGPT or Claude

First connect Context4 to your AI using the [ChatGPT](https://ctx4.me/docs/connect-chatgpt.md) or [Claude](https://ctx4.me/docs/connect-claude.md) guide. Then select a CRM in the [service catalog](https://ctx4.me/apps) and authorize the account you want to use. A catalog page does not replace connecting the account and checking permissions.

## What AI can do with your work data

Available actions depend on the connector, connected account and permissions. Before changing a deal, task or another object, check the action and approve it in your AI client. Read [how to verify execution](https://ctx4.me/docs/actions.md) and [how to revoke access](https://ctx4.me/docs/access-and-disconnect.md).
